Vacuum packing is a packing method largely used by the food industry prior to selling. This method involves sealing the plastic film package after placed items in it. The aim of this method is to extend the shelf life of foods by removing oxygen from inside the container. The method requires the use of a Vacuum packing machine; which comes in various forms. Some of the different types of vacuum packing machines are as follows.
Single Vacuum Chamber Machine
Plastic bags are typically used for packing in this machine. The entire product must be placed within the single chamber and the air is removed after the lid is closed. The heat seal inside the chamber seals the bag. After this, the vent opens automatically to the outside and the chamber is refilled with air. The remaining air in the bag is squeezed due to this incoming pressure. The product can then be removed after opening the lid. This vacuum packing machine is used for low-to-medium-volume packaging and can also seal liquids.
Double Vacuum Chamber Machine
The working of these food packaging machines is similar to that of single vacuum chamber machines. They also have the capability to seal liquids. Double vacuum chamber machines are used for medium-volume packaging. The lid swings from one side to another which increases the production speed. They either have fully automatic lids r spring weighted lids. This vacuum packing machine is generally used for processed meat, candies, fresh meat, chocolates, and cheese.
Automatic Belt Vacuum Chamber Machine
The entire product must be placed in a flow-wrapped pouch or plastic bag within this vacuum packing machine. The product then travels the conveyor belt. The belt positions the product in the seal bar; after which the lid closes and the air is removed. After this, the seal bar seals the product in the bag inside the chamber; and the automatic opening of a vent to the outside refills the chamber. All the remaining air in the bag is squeezed with this oncoming pressure and the lid is then closed. The product is safely removed after that. These food vacuum packaging machines are used for packing large items quickly. They can vacuum seal liquids where the lid travels vertically. Processed meat, fresh meat, cheese,and large sausage logs are usually packed with the help of these machines.
Thermoforming (rollstock) food vacuum packaging machines
This is a commercial vacuum packaging machine that is used for larger production facilities for packaging products like sausage, grain, fresh meat, cheese, candy, grab-and-go snacks, chocolate, marinated meat, pharmaceuticals/ medical products, and collectables. Products are first loaded into the machine and the top web is sealed under a vacuum. This commercial vacuum packaging machine increases the production speed to a great extent.
